Important Rules governing the Use of Golf Carts within Eagle Landing

They are not allowed on OakLeaf Plantation Parkway.  They must be registered with Eagle Landing.
To do so, please visit the Athletic Center.
If you become a golf member and wish to use your personal golf cart on the golf course,
cart must match the Eagle Landing fleet of carts - blue with tan or white roof - similar to photo above.

Prior to operating a golf cart, residents need to familiarize themselves with
Florida State Statute 316.212.

Below is a short synopsis of FL Statute 316.212:

  • A golf cart is defined as: a motor vehicle that is designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for sporting or recreational purposes and that is not capable of exceeding speeds of 20 miles per hour (the current speed limit in Eagle Landing is 25MPH. (A four wheel ATV or go-cart is not a golf cart and these are not permitted for use in Eagle Landing.)  FL Statute 320.01 (22)

  • A golf cart may not be operated on public roads or streets by any person under the age of 14. FL Statute 316.212 (7)

  • A golf cart must be operated on the roadway as it is considered a motor vehicle and cannot be operated on a sidewalk. This is a violation of traffic laws.
  •  A golf cart operator must obey any and all the traffic laws of the roadway.

  • A golf cart must be equipped with efficient brakes, reliable steering apparatus, safe tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectorized warning devices in both the front and rear. FL Statute 316.212 (6)
  • A golf cart may be operated only during the hours between sunrise and sunset, unless the responsible governmental entity has determined that a golf cart may be operated during the hours between sunset and sunrise and the golf cart is equipped with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield. FL Statute 316.212 (5)

  • If a violation of the law is observed by a police officer, a traffic citation can be issued to the operator and/or parents.
  • Golf carts shall always be parked in designated automobile parking spaces and never on grass, sidewalks, etc.
  • Only registered golfers may use the golf course paths and only while playing golf.  Any other usage is considered trespass.

Please obey all traffic laws and ensure that you “cart” safely.
